Happy first day of Fall everyone! The weather down here in Miami certainly doesn’t feel like fall (and I’m accepting that it never really will), but these crazy people put the air conditioners on so high that yesterday I still wore a sweater to work (and was still chilly all day)!
My top was a recent purchase from SheIn; I’ve been obsessed with ruffle tops lately (maybe because Liv loves them and twirls with me when I wear them?), so I’m wearing them as much as I can until the bump makes it look a little ridiculous. And at under $ 20 it’s hard to beat! These pants are my new favorite work pants – I love that they come in petite sizes as well, and I especially love the soft stretchy material and the side zip which should be able to accommodate the bump for a while! And my shoes – maybe you guys remember me obsessing about the rose-colored ones I got this spring? I went ahead and got the camel colored ones for fall and love them just as much.
I get asked all the time about my watch and glasses on Instagram photos – I’m always wearing the same ones that I linked up below! New to my “classics” are these pearl earrings that my mom got me over a decade ago and I just rediscovered! I wear them almost daily.

(Pager not included hahaha. Trust me you don’t want it).

health-beverage.com – Happy weekend all! I’m on call this weekend and covering our inpatient service – which means I round on any consults who are in the hospital and then see any new consults throughout the weekend! It’s a little crazy since I cover 3 hospitals but always makes for some incredible learning – my last weekend on call I saw a 3 day old baby in the NICU who likely had epidermolysis bullosa, a patient with a crazy urticarial drug eruption in the ED, a patient who I got called in the middle of the night about for a full-body “vasculitis” that ended up being a CRAZY case of scabies, and a couple of other not-so-exciting consults (dyshidrotic eczema seems to be a favorite consult as of late lol). I’m torn this weekend between hoping for a really quiet weekend (the entire house is recovering from a bad cold this week) but then also wanting some cool cases so we can help some patients!

A sneak into my biopsy bag! A lot (although definitely not all) of what we do in derm is based on skin biopsy – and there are many different types of biopsies we can take! PS – my nail polish (which I think is my new favorite) is OPI Tiramisu for Two.

In the meantime wanted to share 5 fun links for your weekend and week ahead!

1) Apple pie cookies. Need I say more? This recipe looks SO easy and I know Liv (or any toddler… or grown adult… or just some being that needs to eat) would love putting them together!

2) We’re planning a pretty big family trip soon (can’t wait to share more details) and I’ve been eyeing a few good travel purchases. This gorgeous wrap just went on sale for 30% off and I might have to snag it! For nursing mamas it’s the perfect cover up, and for everyone else it’s the best to travel with on the plane and have something to cozy up with!

3) I shared this with my students earlier in the week, but I’m absolutely loving this desktop background by Pretty Darn Cute. I have it set as the wallpaper on my iPad and love how motivated and happy it makes me when I see it!

4) Baby Toms are just about the cutest thing ever. I found an old pair of Liv’s red ones and immediately felt like I had to buy a pair for Elli and her chunky little legs! How adorable is baby Reese in hers? I’m thinking I’ll pick up a fall shade like ash or navy.

5) This is the last weekend my E-course will be available and then enrollment will be closing again! I’ll be hosting an hour long (or longer depending on how much fun we have) webinar next week for all enrolled students answering all of your questions in real time, you don’t want to miss it!

Hope you all have wonderful weekends!

Alrighty y’all – I’m always getting questions about comfortable flats for the hospital and clinic – and I’ve done multiple posts on the matter!
I can now officially say I have a favorite. I still love my crocs flats, and they really do provide the best cushion, but I’ve found that they’re not great for doing serious walking – days that I’m all over the medical campus I still get the occasional blister! I will say, though, I wore my crocs all last year (intern year) and they were so comfortable being on your feet – but I really just walked from my car to the work room and then here and there in our small hospital. Seriously the crocs were still the best. Now though, my walking is from one hospital to another hospital a block down and then all over different floors of city-like hospitals – it’s just really way more walking! So if you’re doing walking like that, the crocs can end up rubbing the wrong way.
The winner that’s actually emerged are my little Payless ballet flats. And they’re now on sale. And I selfishly bought 2 more pairs before publishing this post because I’d be really sad if my size sold out! (I got the quilted cream and leopard for any of you curious lol, one $ 30, the other $ 15, and then buy one get one 50% off and free shipping)! Their memory foam bed is super comfortable and the (fake) leather and elastic trim is so soft and flexible – they’ve literally never bothered my feet and in fact feel like slippers! There’s no breaking in required. They’ve come out on top and are now my go-to shoe for still looking put together but also staying oh-so-comfortable all day! And they come in so many styles! Check out my picks above (there’s style 1 and style 2, both almost identical) and do yourself a favor and buy a pair (or two or three).
And a little hint – since I always search for coupon codes, I used the code ZZRTMN15 for another 15% off that worked! If that doesn’t work try ZZBONUS for 10% off 😉

Last weekend was pretty much the best weekend ever because not only did the girls and I get to travel back up to Mass and stay at my family home, but my bestest girlfriends in the whole wide world met up with us too! It was a wonderful reunion of family and friends, and beautiful fall weather that made for the perfect weekend! It was a little crazy traveling with the girls solo (and those of you who follow me on snapchat might have seen they even had to spend some time with me in my afternoon clinic on Friday before we left for the airport which was pure madness!) but it was SO worth it.
This weekend I’m on call at the hospital which likely means I’ll be at the hospital for most of it, but I have plenty of beautiful memories to get me through it (and lots of fun to look forward to as well)! Sharing some pictures and of course outfit information below!! Hope you all have wonderful weekends! (Warning: totally photo heavy!)

Livi loved picking pumpkins (and tipping over the big ones lol)
Yeah we’re still washing hay out of Liv’s hair at bath time, but totally worth it!
My screensaver on my phone ❤
Elli, my sister Lili, mama, Kellie, me, and Janice (and Liv tipping pumpkins)
Liv wanted all the gourds!
Besties finally reunited! This is the longest we’ve ever all been apart!
Me and my siblings – it’s been too long since we’ve all been under one roof! My mom was over the moon.
Our (or more accurately, just my) incredible brunch at Jakes in Northampton (my college town)!
Simple cozy outfit perfect for the temperature! Sad I can’t wear them in Miami!
Sweater (legit $ 10)  //  Cardigan  //  Jeans  //  Booties (run to get these, they’re $ 35 and basically the cutest ever)  //  Bag
Love these ladies SO much and was so happy they traveled to meet up with us and make the weekend extra special! Love you girls!

Happy almost weekend!! Sharing some fall essentials on the blog today – all at great prices!

1. Classic watch – you guys know I wear my Daniel Wellington everyday. I have multiple different color straps (black, dark brown, and this lighter brown/cognac color). For the last month I have only been wearing this color and find it really goes with everything! And right now it’s only $ 100!

2. Comfortable carry-all bag in a new neutral – I’m a sucker for neutrals, but sometimes it’s fun to change it up a bit and a deep olive green is the perfect neutral for fall! I love the thick strap on this bag that makes for comfortable carrying.

3. Simple patterned scarf – the scarves come out in fall! And this one doesn’t disappoint, in a simple color pattern with enough fun to spice up any outfit.

4. Over the knee boots – these were HUGE last fall and aren’t going anywhere this season! I’m about to pull the trigger on these babies – you seriously cannot beat the price at only $ 136! They also come in black and a light grey as well. Classic riding boots (not pictured) are also coming back out for the fall, and these ones are currently my favorite!

5. Cozy sweaters – these dominate the colder temperature closet, and I love ones that can be worn dressed up for work or down for the weekend – and all of these fit the bill. Included here are my picks for chunky sweater, turtleneck, and crewneck.

What are some of your favorite fall essentials?

October has been a fun whirlwind of a month – those of you who follow on Instagram and Snapchat get a peek of it all but I figured it’d be nice to post a little update on the blog too!!
Life:
We moved! And I seriously could not be happier. I’ve alluded to the Miami move being harder than expected, I pretty much dislike Miami very much lol (although I should say disliked). The area we moved to though just wasn’t right for us – full of lots of rich privileged flashy people who will beep at you when you’re crossing the street with your children (and have the walking sign)! And we didn’t have a car yet either which meant I was relying on Uber to get to work (which was actually super cheap with Uber pool, usually $ 2-$ 3 a trip), but led to so much daily frustration! And our condo itself was just not right for us – it always felt cold and outdated and no matter what changes I made my feelings about it weren’t changing – never mind all of the necessary repairs that were promised by the property manager and never taken care of – needless to say we had every right to terminate the lease early and we did. And found the most perfect house in the cutest neighborhood with a huge playground across the street (and a shopping center, etc). And got a new car! The move was a bit hectic since we could only move out of the condo on weekdays (the condo rules are ridiculous), but even in the chaos it’s already been such a relief! I’m calling it our #freshstartMiami and so excited for it all! And in case you missed it in the midst of it all the girls and I made a super special trip back home the week before the move that was the perfect recharge we needed before taking on the move!
Our kitchen! I love it! And a front view of our cute little bungalow the day we first saw it! It definitely needs some yard work but we love it! And below our living room (and all the boxes surrounding us lol)!

Style:
Dressing the bump has been fun; for most of the month I was still on my inpatient rotation (read more below) which meant I had to dress in business-casual every day! Which honestly gets a little tiring when you have a special accessory like a 6 month baby bump! My favorites were comfy pants paired with easy tops, and especially sleeveless stretchy sweater dresses! Sweater because it’s technically fall, sleeveless because it’s still like 80 degrees hahaha (although we have had a few “cooler” days where the humidity has let up and the breeze kicks in and it honestly is glorious)! Loving the price point and fall color options of this dress (and this grey one is almost the exact one I have)!
Left: top, pants, shoes, watch; Right: top, leggings, shoes (I am obsessed with this pointy-toe version leopard flat and it’s been taking all of my powers of minimalism to convince myself not to buy them – they look really comfortable too)!

Medicine:
This month I wrapped up my inpatient rotation – my program is the only dermatology program in the country where dermatology actually admits patients (not only inpatient consults) – we admit everything from infected wounds from our wound clinic to drug reactions to scheduled admissions for photophoresis for cutaneous T cell lymphoma or IVIG treatments. It was a great month full of learning (we also handled all of the hospital consults, and over the weekend carried all 3 pagers for 3 separate hospitals, so it was always busy)! My first year as a dermatology resident was very front loaded – I started with our VA rotation which is where we get most of our surgical training (and the first year carries the VA pager 24/7, so you can never leave town), and then I started inpatient, the other heavy month! But this week I started one of our “normal” rotations that means I’m pretty much just in clinics during the day with a couple mornings of surgery, and then I’m free on the weekends! It’s a nice change that’s for sure! Sharing a few photos below from some interesting consults – warning some of it may be graphic so don’t scroll down if you may be squeamish! All of these are photos I actually took from online and not my actual patients to protect their privacy, but these are nearly identical to the presentations I saw!
The first case on the left was probably the craziest – I got a consult for a patient who came to the Emergency Room for right sided weakness, imaging of his brain concerning for metastasis, and a growth like this on his back. I biopsied it and sure enough it returned as an amelanotic melanoma (pretty much one of our scariest diagnoses). The top right was a woman who came in admitting to recent cocaine use – this was levamisole-induced vasculitis – levamisole is a cutting agent in some cocaine that can cause this horrible vasculopathic purpura. The bottom right was a classic case of erythema multiforme, likely from HSV infection (herpes simplex). We see so many cases it’s insane! Hope you guys enjoyed it!

health-beverage.com – Ok super quick post just to share a deal I just found today – N picked up this handheld vacuum about 2 years ago and I remember being annoyed thinking he wasted his money (we needed a real vacuum, not a little dinky one) – and while I still fully believe in the power of a “real” vacuum, this baby should not be underestimated. This is quite possibly our most-used household item – with kids (and who am I kidding, a husband) there are always little spills in the most convenient or inconvenient of places. This sucker has picked it all up and then some – it’s great for getting stuff that has accumulated behind couch cushions and in the car, and when Liv decides she wants to pour the sugar herself. Anyway, not even sponsored, just sharing the love because this little baby really has been one of our greatest purchases and it’s nearly 50% off today only! I just bought a second one :)
